FilterPixel not installing on your Mac? You may need Rosetta

If FilterPixel is not opening or installing on your Mac, one common reason is that Rosetta is not installed.

This mostly affects newer Mac devices with Apple Silicon chips such as M1, M2, M3, and newer.

Why this happens

FilterPixel currently needs Rosetta on some newer Macs to run properly.

Rosetta is a small utility from Apple that helps your Mac run apps that were built for a different processor type. It is safe, official, and commonly used on Apple Silicon Macs. If Rosetta is missing, you may see problems like:

  • the app not opening
  • the installer failing
  • an unexpected error during launch

How to fix it

Please follow these steps carefully:

Step 1: Close FilterPixel

If FilterPixel is open, fully close the app.

Step 2: Install Rosetta
  1. Open Terminal on your Mac
  2. You can do this by pressing Command + Space, typing Terminal, and pressing Enter.
  3. Copy and paste this command into Terminal:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta
  1. Press Enter
  2. If your Mac asks for confirmation, type A and press Enter, or follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Wait for Rosetta to finish installing

Step 3: Re-download FilterPixel

After Rosetta is installed:

  1. Delete the current FilterPixel app if needed
  2. Download the latest version of FilterPixel again
  3. Install it normally

Step 4: Open FilterPixel again

Once installation is complete, try opening the app again.
