How to Fix Installation Issues on Mac?

If you’re facing problems launching FilterPixel on your Mac, it’s usually because the app wasn’t installed correctly. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth installation.

Step 1: Download the Installer

  1. Go to the FilterPixel Download Page
  2. Download the FilterPixel .dmg file to your Mac.

Step 2: Open the Installer

  1. Locate the downloaded .dmg file (usually in your Downloads folder).
  2. Double-click the file to open it.

Step 3: Install FilterPixel

  1. A new window will appear showing the FilterPixel app icon and the Applications folder.
  2. Drag the FilterPixel app icon into the Applications folder.
    • ⚠️ Important: Running the app directly from the .dmg file can cause errors.

Step 4: Launch FilterPixel

  1. Open the Applications folder on your Mac.
  2. Double-click FilterPixel to launch it.
  3. (Optional) Right-click the FilterPixel icon in the Dock and select Keep in Dock for quick access.

Step 5: Allow Security Permissions (if prompted)

The first time you open FilterPixel, Mac’s Gatekeeper might warn you since the app is downloaded from the internet.

  • If you see the message “FilterPixel can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”:
    1. Go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → General.
    2. Click Open Anyway next to FilterPixel.
    3. The app will now launch normally.

Step 6: Verify Installation

  • Make sure you’re opening FilterPixel from the Applications folder (not the mounted .dmg).
  • Once running, you’re ready to start culling! 🚀

Tip: After installation, you can safely eject the .dmg file and delete it — the app is already copied into Applications.

Troubleshooting FAQ

1. The app keeps bouncing in the Dock but won’t open.

  • Quit the app, restart your Mac, and try again.
  • Check Security & Privacy → General for any blocked permissions.
  • Reinstall by deleting FilterPixel from Applications and dragging it again from the .dmg.

2. I can’t drag the app into the Applications folder.

  • Ensure you have admin rights on your Mac.
  • Try dragging while holding the Option key.
  • If Applications is locked, unlock it via Finder → Applications → File → Get Info → Unlock.

3. I see “Permission denied” or “Unidentified developer” errors.

  • Open System Preferences → Security & Privacy → General and click Open Anyway.
  • Alternatively, right-click FilterPixel → Open (this bypasses the security warning once).

4. The installer window doesn’t show the Applications folder.

  • If the Applications folder alias is missing, open Finder → Applications manually and drag the FilterPixel icon into it.

5. I installed but the app still shows errors.

  • Delete FilterPixel from Applications.
  • Re-download the latest version from our [Download Page].
  • Reinstall following the steps above.
