# How to clean install FilterPixel?

## What is a Clean Install?

A clean install removes all locally stored FilterPixel settings, cache, and configuration files before reinstalling the app. This can resolve persistent issues such as crashes, syncing errors, or corrupted preferences that a standard reinstall does not fix.

||| Note: A clean install will remove all previous projects from the app only, not from the storage location where your files are saved.
## Windows

1. Press **Win + R** to open the Run dialog.
2. Type **%AppData%** and press Enter. This opens the Roaming folder inside AppData.
3. Locate the **FilterPixel** folder.
4. Delete the **FilterPixel** folder.

## Mac

1. Open **Finder**.
2. Press **Cmd + Shift + G** to open the "Go to Folder" dialog.
3. Type **~/Library/Application Support/FilterPixel** and press Enter. (Type ~ using Shift plus the key to the left of the 1 key.)
4. Delete the **FilterPixel** folder.

## Reinstalling FilterPixel

After deleting the folder, go to [https://accounts.filterpixel.com](https://accounts.filterpixel.com) to download the latest version of FilterPixel, then install and run it.
